11058. LaVern B.10 Dudman (Norman I9, William Houston8, Sarah Sally7 Baity, Rebecca6 Allgood, William (Pikey) Henry5, William John4, Edward3, William2, Edward1 Algood) was born in MO 1920. LaVern died 1993.
He married Dorothy Royston September 7, 1940 in Carthage, Jasper Co., MO. Dorothy was born May 3, 1919 in Carthage, Jasper Co., MO. Dorothy was the daughter of Homer F. Royston and Gertrude (____). Dorothy died April 1, 2005 in Bowie, Prince Georges Co., MD. OBIT: Dorothy L. Dudman, 85, a former executive secretary in Washington, died April 1 of pneumonia at Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham. She lived at Woodward Estate, an assisted living facility in Bowie.
Mrs. Dudman, who was born in Carthage, Mo., moved with her husband to Washington in 1940. She worked with the Department of the Navy for three years during World War II. After living in California, she returned permanently to the Washington area in 1945.
She worked as an administrative assistant and secretary for the Navy Department and law offices. From 1956 to 1966, she was an executive secretary with the Washington office of Kaiser Aluminum.
In the 1960s, Mrs. Dudman and her husband joined several Washington area square-dance clubs, including the Jacks and Jills and Suburban Squares. For many years, they spent several nights a week square dancing and also went on several square dancing tours of Germany, Austria, France and the Virgin Islands.
They also were avid campers and took several camping trips each year. They had a second home in Harmony, Md., on the Eastern Shore, where they enjoyed gardening.
She lived in Riverdale from 1956 to 2000. She was a member of University Baptist Church in College Park.
Until recently, she continued to meet regularly with friends in informal groups called "The Golden Girls" and "The Lunch Bunch."
Her husband of 52 years, Verne Dudman, died in 1993.
Survivors include two children, David Dudman of Riverdale and Nancy Dudman-Cavalier of Stevensville, Md.; a brother, Carl L. "Lee" Royster of Rockville; and a grandson.
