He married Bonnie M. Dannels January 2, 1943 in Oskaloosa Co., IL. Bonnie was born April 28, 1917 in Monroe Co., IA. Bonnie was the daughter of Judson Dannels and Bertha Cain. Bonnie died February 16, 2009 in Oskaloosa, Mahaska Co., IA. OBIT: Bonnie M. Lenox, 91, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, February 16, 2009, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was born April 28, 1917 in Monroe County near Moravia, the daughter of Judson and Bertha Cain Dannels. She attended school at Albia, and then worked in the overall factory. On January 2, 1943, she was united in marriage to Cloyd Van Lenox at Oskaloosa, and Cloyd died July 15, 1983. To this union were born five daughters and two sons. Together they farmed for many years in Monroe County, and later in Mahaska County. In 1973, they moved into Oskaloosa and cared for elderly in their home. For many years, Bonnie was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Oskaloosa. Bonnie enjoyed walking with her dog, Peggy; playing with grandchildren; refinishing furniture; making quilts; and reading her Bible. She was a resident of New Sharon Nursing & Rehab, and later Northern Mahaska Nursing & Rehab in Oskaloosa for several years.

Her family includes five daughters: Barbara Johnson, Donna (& Jim) Tylkowski, Linda (& Lloyd) Shappell, all of Oskaloosa, Sheryl (& Rodney) Playle of New Sharon, and Karen (& Eddy) Hostetler of Lane, Oklahoma; two sons: Jerry (& Donna) Lenox and Terry (& Ann) Lenox, all of Oskaloosa; 18 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother: Don (& Esther) Dannels of Newton; a sister: Dorothy (& Don) Asher of Albia, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Besides her husband, Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; a great grandson; a sister: Ruthella Grubb; and three brothers: Robert, Herbert, and Harold Dannels.

Funeral services for Bonnie Lenox will be held Thursday, February 19, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Reverend Mike Omundson officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin Wednesday after 1 p.m., and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 5 ? 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
