Nancy died December 23, 2002 in Des Moines, Polk Co., IA. OBIT: Nancy U. Moore, 87, of Des Moines, died Monday, December 23, 2002, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born April 24, 1915, the daughter of William Samuel and Loretta Fay Blake Padgett, in Oskaloosa. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa, and enjoyed playing bingo and collecting dolls.
Nancy is survived by two sons: Charles (& Lola) Brown of Kirkville, Iowa and Rodger Brown (& Kathy Lanphier) of Oskaloosa; five daughters: Charlene (& Edward) Moore of Eddyville, June Steele of Arlington, Texas, Jean (& Al) Workman of Des Moines, Ann Knecht of Oskaloosa, and Shirley Carlson of Oskaloosa; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two husbands: Leonard Brown and Lloyd Moore; a son: Larry Leroy Brown; a granddaughter: Linda Darland; one brother: Charles Leonard Padgett; and four sisters: Helen Hartgrave, Martha Anderson, Mary Davis, and Rosetta O'Leary.
Funeral services for Nancy Moore will be held Friday, December 27, 2002 at 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Reverend Harold Schutte officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin Thursday after 9:00 a.m., and the family will be present at the funeral chapel on Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
She married twice. She married Lloyd Moore. She married Leonard W. Brown March 201933 in University Park, Mahaska Co., IA. Leonard was born October 8,1909 in Wapello, Louisa Co., IA. Leonard was the son of Wiley J. Brown and Mary Brown Ross. Leonard died June 2,1976 in Ottumwa, Wapello Co., IA.
