She married Hugh B. Phillips. Hugh was born January 16, 1931 in McMinn Co, TN. Hugh was the son of Ollie Frances Phillips and Mary Virgie Hicks. Hugh died July 22, 2004 in Athens, McMinn Co., TN. OBIT: Hugh B. Phillips, 73, of Athens, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Ollie and Mary Virgie Hicks and was a member of Athens Free Saints True Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise Moses Phillips; three sisters, Beatrice "Bea" Coleman, Sue Veals and Lillie Keaton; and three brothers, Junior, J.C. and Ira Phillips.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Joe Cranfield of Athens, and Beverly and Mike Thomason of Georgetown; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Billy Phillips of Athens, and Robert and Fleshia Phillips of Sweetwater; four grandchildren, Travis, Brandon, Drew and Tyler; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Johnnie and James Hood and Cora Lee Massingale, all of Decatur; and one brother, Arnold Phillips of McKenzie.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Hicks officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Upper Spring Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Cranfield, Michael Thomason, and his four grandchildren, Travis, Brandon, Drew and Tyler.
