John Clayton¹¹ Odom (Lydia Grace¹⁰ Yates, Sallie Ellen⁹ Hogue, Jonathan Patrick⁸, Sarah (Sally) Hudson⁷ Allgood, William A.⁶, John Young⁵, William⁴ Algood, Edward³ Allgood, William², Edward¹ Algood) was born in Sonora Sutto, TX August 8, 1931. John died July 26, 2001 in Orange Park, Clay Co., FL. OBIT: John C. Odom, 69, passed away July 26, 2001 at Orange Park Medical Center. Born in Sonora, Texas, he moved to Clay County in 1968. Mr. Odom was a retired Master Sargeant serving over 21 years in the U.S. Marine Corp. Following his military career, he was a longtime employee of Orange Park Services. Survivors include his wife, Rose; sons, Calvin P. Odom and George E. Poling; daughters, Linda R. White, Joyce A. Mooney, Glendora R. Boyer, Trina D. Waters; brothers, Paschal, Delma Ray, and Odell Odom; sister, Armilda; 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Saturday (today) at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Holly Hill Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Road with Pastor Ron Baker of Russell Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park.

He married Rose Marie Wolverton. Rose was born February 18,1931 in Erbacon, Webster Co., WV. Rose died March 8, 2002 in Middleburg, Clay Co., FL. OBIT: Mrs. Rose M. Odom, 70, passed away March 8, 2002 following a lengthy illness. Born in Erbacon, West Virginia, she was a resident of Clay County since 1967. Mrs. Odom was preceded in death by her husband John C. Odom, who died on July 26, 2001. Survivors include her sons, Calvin P. Odom and George E. Poling; daughters, Linda R. White, Joyce A. Mooney, Glendora R. Boyer and Trina D. waters; 16 grand and 15 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday at 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Holly Hill Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park.
