Harvey died August 2, 1988 in Chase City, Mecklenburg Co., VA. OBIT: Harvey Lee Owen died Tuesday, August 2, 1988. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Reamey Owen; three daughters, Carol Flynn of Boydton, Angela Carnes of Chase City, and Beverly Rutledge of Blairs; three brothers, Marion, Vick, and Jack Owen all of Chase City; two sisters, Mrs. Jena Moore of Chase City, Mrs. Margarette Barker of West Point; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild. Mr. Owen was a veteran of WWII and retired fireman with 20 years service.
He married Mary Elizabeth Reamey. Mary was born May 27, 1928 in Mecklenberg Co., VA. Mary was the daughter of Henry Homer Reamey and Vergie Jane Newton. Mary died April 27,2017 in Chase City, Mecklenburg Co., VA. OBIT: Mary Elizabeth Reamey Owen, age 88, of Chase City, Virginia passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017. She was born on May 27, 1928 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia to the late Homer Reamey and Virgie Newton Reamey.
Elizabeth is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Owen Flynn and her husband, Jerry of Boydton, Angela Owen Harris and her husband, Lynwood of South Hill and Beverly Owen Rutledge of Halifax, seven grandchildren, Rhonda Tate, Renae Cox, Jackie Arnold, Catherine Flynn, Tony Duffer, Dusty Lett and Heather Rutledge, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Reamey Gurley and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Harvey Lee Owen, son, Randy Lee Owen, three infants, grandson, Dana Duffer, three sisters, May Reamey Lanyon, Nell Reamey Jones and Edith Reamey Flinn and one brother, William Reamey.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the home of Carolyn Flynn, 3879 Philliss Road, Boydton, VA 23917. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 4 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery in Chase City. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Sentara Halifax Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Ave., South Boston, VA 24592. Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home in Chase City will be handling the arrangements.
