He married Patricia Reed. Patricia was born 1938 in Jackson, Hinds Co, MS. Patricia was the daughter of Chatham Reed and Virginia (___). Patricia died September 10, 2015 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, LA. OBIT: Patricia Reed Conly passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at The Oaks in Shreveport, LA. She was born in 1938 in Jackson, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Conly, and parents, Chatham and Virginia Reed. She leaves behind her daughter, Lisa Conly Cronin and her husband Mark; son, Kenneth Conly, Jr. and his wife Donna; brother, Chatham (Chat) Reed and his wife Wendy; sister, Georgia Reed Branch and her husband, Lee; brother-in-law, Bill Conly and his wife, Louise; sister-in-law, Phyllis Martin and her husband, David; grandsons, Michael Cronin, Daniel Cronin, Samuel Conly, Benjamin Conly and many cherished nephews and nieces.
Patricia was a long-time resident of Ringgold, moving there with Ken in 1958 to start their dairy and beef cattle farm. After Ken’s death in 1976, Patricia (or Pat, as she was known in Ringgold), ran the farm for a couple of years, but then devoted herself fulltime to obtaining an accounting degree at LSU Shreveport. Patricia went on to become a CPA, working in the oil and gas industry her entire career, first in Bossier City and then moving to Houston in 1987. After she retired in 2003, Patricia moved to Baton Rouge, spending much of her time with Georgia and her family. When Lisa’s family returned to the Shreveport area in 2006, Patricia moved there to be close to them.
Patricia loved cooking, and rarely needed a recipe to concoct her special family dishes. She adored Christmas and showered those close to her with gifts and good cheer. She especially loved her family. Later in life, she began an email group for her cousins, bringing many together after years apart from each other.
Visitation will be Friday October 9, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm for family and friends at Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Ringgold at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015. Burial will follow at Springhill Baptist Cemetery in Ringgold.
Pallbearers will be Michael Cronin, Daniel Cronin, Chatham Reed, James Reed, Christopher Branch and Bill Conly Jr. The family wishes to thank to the wonderful ladies who cared for Patricia in recent years, with very special thanks to Linda Chitman.
