Mary died March 19, 2016 in Carmel, Hamilton Co., IN. OBIT: Mary Lou Fowler, 80 of Carmel, Ind., and formerly of Paris, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Sunrise Senior Living, Carmel. She was the office manager for Fowler State Farm Insurance Agency.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday, March 25, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Burial follows in Bethany Cemetery in Marshall, Ind. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Fowler was born May 1, 1935, at Marshall, Ind., the daughter of the late Merle and Ruth Hale Sprague. She married George Thomas Fowler Jan. 16, 1954, at Paris, and he passed away Sept. 20, 2004.
Survivors include three daughters, Christie Fowler of Carmel, Ind., Dee Ann Fowler (Jon) Graham of Carmel and Lise’ Fowler (Ken)Vale of Cypress, Texas; a sister Jill (Phil) Parrinello of Detroit, Mich.; six grandchildren, Ashley Graham, Abby (Nathan) Custer, Aimee (Bryan) Duke, Daniel (Emma) Graham, Timothy Vale and Iain Vale; three great-grandchildren, Kya Harrison, Eisley Custer, and Jude Custer; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Barb Wallace.
Mrs. Fowler was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Paris. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, an active PTA member, a Junior Women’s Club member and a former Girl Scout leader.
She enjoyed bowling very much and for several years bowled in the Tuesday Night Ladies League for the Hiatt Distributing Team. She went on several yearly bowling trips and when she moved to Sunrise Senior Living, she organized a Wii bowling league.
Mrs. Fowler enjoyed being around people, especially her family. She liked to tell jokes, was known for always having a smile on her face and loved to laugh. She was a firm believer in happy hour.
She married George Thomas Fowler Jfanuary 16, 1954 in Paris, Edgar Co., IL. George was born July 17, 1930 in Chrisman, EdgarCo., IL. George was the son of John t. FOwler and Florence Todd. George died September 20, 2004 in Paris, Edgar Co., IL.
