Harold died August 20, 2006 in Crawfordsville, Montgomery Co., IN. OBIT: Harold David Summers, 71, of Veedersburg passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at 1:06 p.m. at St. Clare Medical Center’s emergency room, in Crawfordsville. He worked 45 years for Farm Bureau Co-Op of Veedersburg, where he drove a petroleum truck, retiring in 1999. He was born Dec. 31, 1934, in Fountain County, to Cyril and Hazel Bean Summers.
He married Paula Y. Butcher on Oct. 8, 1954, in Ridgefarm, Ill., and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Cathy Bachelor and husband Michael of Robinson, Ill.; two grandsons, Ben Bachelor and wife Rachel of Robinson, and Justin Bachelor of Centerville, Ill; a great-grandson, Jonas Bachelor of Robinson; a brother, Orvall Summers and wife Loretta of Hillsboro; a sister-in-law, Margaret Summers of Florida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Doug, in 1977; a brother, Earl; and an infant sister, Lucille.
He was a 1954 graduate of Kingman High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist Church and the Veedersburg American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and taking care of his lawn.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, at DeVerter Brothers Funeral in Cayuga, with the Rev. William Nickle officiating. Burial is in Wolfe Creek Cemetery, near Wallace. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He married Paula Y. Butcher October 8, 1954 in Ridgefarm, IL. Paula was born 1937.
Harold David Summers and Paula Y. Butcher had the following children:
