She married Clyde Vernon Ollis. Clyde was born May 19, 1917 in Avery Co., NC. Clyde was the son of Council Vernon Ollis and Dixie Wise. Clyde died May 14, 2004 in Person Co., NC. OBIT: The funeral for Clyde Vernon Ollis, 86, of 133 Clayton St., who died Friday, May 14, 2004, at Person Memorial Hospital, was conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 16 at Ca-Vel Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Tobie Stone and the Rev. Carl Belcher. Graveside rites were held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 17, at the Green Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Spruce Pine, N.C.
Mr. Ollis was a native of Avery County, N.C., the son of the late Council Vernon and Dixie Wise Ollis.
He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation after 30 years of service.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Ca-Vel Baptist Church where he served as deacon and head usher. After his retirement, he served as church custodian for over 15 years.
Surviving are his wife, Zadie Vanier Ollis; two children, Macon Bailey Ollis and wife, Linda, and Mamie O. Rogers and husband, Billy, all of Hillsborough; two brothers, Harmon Ollis of Morganton, and Hayes Ollis of Florence, S.C.; four grandchildren, Kirk Vernon Ollis of Apex, Kyle Vance Ollis of Durham, Jeffrey Vernon Rogers of Greenville, S.C., and Janet Rogers Coker of Newport News, Va.; and four great-grandchildren, Forrest Rogers, Katelyn Rogers, Will Coker, and Jackson Vernon Ollis.
Zadie Vanier and Clyde Vernon Ollis had the following children:
