My wife and I have come to a decision to retire our small publishing business. Hopefully, we will wrap things up shortly after the end of the third quarter of this year. I am continuing to write, but will no longer publish or share my stories or books through Algood Publishing Company, Inc. I would like to thank everyone who has supported us and enjoyed my stories. The health issues I had last year were a wakeup call. I have slowed down a bit and believe it is time to retire this part of my life.
I still have a few books that will be available only through our publishing company for the next two months. We are letting them go for $15 each in the United States only. That will include the shipping. If I don’t have to ship them they will be slightly less. They are fiction, but inspired by true life occurrences.
The first book I wrote was Where Angels Weep. It was heavily inspired by information shared with me by my friend Louis Taunton about the 1910 murder of Janie Sharp in Winston County, Mississippi. This book is set in that era and deals with the murder of Jenny Martin and the quest to find the man who murdered her. There is a lot of truth woven into this book, but a lot fiction as well. Unintentionally, it ended as a cliffhanger because of the nature of the story on which it was based.
My second book, An Angel With No Name, builds on the first book and brings the story to a conclusion. I had no intention in writing a second book when I wrote the first one inspired by the Janie Sharp case. Had I realized I was going to continue writing I would have included the second book into the first one as a part 2. This book is set in present day and finds the descendants of people involved in the 1910 murder of Jenny Martin following clues to find out who killed her after the turn of the twentieth century.
The Midnight Angel was my third book. Some of the colorful characters from my second book reappear in a story that begins in Paducah, Kentucky during the flood of 2011 and find themselves fleeing a mob boss that is hot on their trail. Their trek takes them on a globetrotting adventure that includes London, Paris, Memphis and Vicksburg. This is a romance story and was one of my wife’s favorite books.
The last book I published is titled The Christmas Angels. It is entirely set in and around the fictitious town of Lewisville, Mississippi. The story revolves around a Winstead County couple that befriends an orphaned little boy and fall in love with him. In their plight to adopt him they find they are up against and unsavory relative that is involved in the meth trade. The relative wishes to make money off their desire to protect the child. This book was inspired by a friend of one of our daughters that was a foster child.
Again, I would like to thank everyone who has supported and encouraged me on this journey I have been on. If anyone wishes to order any of these books you can contact me for more details before the end of September. They will not be available for purchase after that!
