Mildred died September 14, 2001 in Pleasant Park Estates, Oskaloosa Co., IA. Mildred M. Brown, 84, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, Sept. 14, at Pleasant Park Estates in Oskaloosa. Her funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. James Neal of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Visiting hours are open today at the funeral home, with family present 5-7 p.m. to greet visitors. Memorials: to the family.

Mildred M. Brown was born Sept. 4, 1917, in Lovilia to Harry and Ethel Mae Kirkman Sage. She married Carl A. Johnson; he preceded her in death. She married Elmer Baxter; he also preceded her in death. She married James Edward Brown on Sept. 13, 1985.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Jim Johnson of San Diego, Calif.; a stepson, George Brown of Ottumwa; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Frances Sloan and Julia Amber, both of Oskaloosa.

Besides two husbands, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Orville, Harry, George, Gail and Johnny Sage; and three sisters: Edna Marie Sage, Verla Hugen and Betty Gardner.

She married three times. She married Carl A. Johnson. Carl was born April 16,1912. Carl died March 1981 in Davenport, Scott Co, IA. She married Elmer Baxter.
