Martha was born June 22, 1862 in Morganton, Burke Co., NC. Martha was the daughter of Samuel Danner and Sophisa Myers. Martha died December 2, 1950 in Morganton, Burke Co., NC. Martha is buried at Courtney Baptist Church, Yadkin Co., NC beside her first husband Daniel Washington Hoots. From "Descendants of Jacob Hoots," by Carl Casper Hoots: ....Aunt Marth, as she was affectionately called, was a very capable woman who was always ready to drop everything and come to the aid of anyone who was in distress. Doctors were not always available in those days, and she could take over and carry on until one was available, as the writer can very well remember." From "Descendants of Jacob Hoots," by Carl Casper Hoots: "William H. was known as 'Uncle Bill.' He was a carpenter and built many frame houses that are still standing in the community. They were strong Baptists and the Baptists were very strict in those days. It seems that Brother Allgood while driving nails had struck his fingers and before he could restrain himself had cursed. He was charged with taking the Lord's name in vain; however, on stating that he was sorry and that the Lord had forgiven him, the church also forgave him, and he was restored in good standing and was Church Clerk for years."
