Lois died January 14, 2013 in Hazard, KY. OBIT: Lois E. Hollaway Alford, age 85, of Corbin, died Monday, January 14, 2013 in the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Elzora Allgood Hollaway, born to them on May 8, 1927 at Sidney in Izzard County, Arkansas. Lois was retired from Ford Motor Company, and was a Member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Corbin, Kentucky. On January 10, 1948, she united in marriage to John W. Alford, and to this union a daughter: Brenda, and a son: John Junior, were born. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Raymond Hollaway; and by her daughter: Brenda Herington, and by her son-in-law: Bob Herington. She is survived by her loving family: Her loving husband of over 65 years: John W. Alford of Corbin, Kentucky. Her son: John W. Alford, Jr., and wife, Dawn of Ypsilanti, Michigan. Her 4 grandchildren: John W. Alford, III.,and his ficanee', Danielle Sandella, Emily Alford, Jeff Herington and wife, Jennifer, and Jason Herington and wife, Katherine. Her 3 great grandchildren: Ethan Herington, Brooklyn Herington, and Dominic Arkison. Her brother: Roy Hollaway and wife, Floris of Yuma City, California; and several nieces and nephews, and other dear relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing. Funeral Services for Lois E. Hollaway Alford will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. with Dr. Bruce Jung and Pastor Kevin Roach officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery. Those serving as Pallbearers will be the granddaughters and grandsons of Mrs. Alford: John W. Alford, III., Emily Alford, Jennifer Herington, Danielle Sandella, Jeff Herington, and Jason Herington. Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: her special friends: Mike Saunders and Patsy Burnette, her Church family at Calvary Baptist Church, all her special neighbors, and all of her special friends.
