Martha died March 14, 2004 in Centerville, Appanoose Co., IA. OBIT: Martha Lucille Davis, 81, formerly of Promise City, died Sunday night at the Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born to Bastian J. and Hulda P. (Wymore) Andeway on July 7, 1922 at What Cheer. She married Joe Riley Davis on Aug. 24, 1946 in Centerville. The two moved to the Promise City area in the early 1940s. Lucille was a member of the Jones Helpers Club. Her loves were family, home and music. Lucille is survived by a daughter, Jo Linda Schlesselman and her husband, Allan, of Parnell; two sons, Mark Davis and his wife, Joanne, of Brooklyn and Jamison Davis and his wife, Tammy, of Promise City; one brother, Lloyd Andeway of Centerville; nine grandchildren: Eric Schlesselman and his wife, Cindy, of Williamsburg, Matthew Schlesselman of Williamsburg, Natalie Schlesselman of Parnell, Kimberly Dodd and her husband, Ryan, of Grinnell, Russell Davis of Waterloo, Tamara Salladay and her husband, Cody, of Bloomfield, Evan, Ratha and Ethan Davis of Promise City; three great-grandchildren: Preston Dodd, Anna and Sarah Schlesselman. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents; one brother, Omer Andeway; and a sister, Evalyn Andeway. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Conger officiating. Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. to time of service. A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Association and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville IA 52544.
She married Joe Riley Davis August 24, 1946. Joe was born September 29, 1924 in Plano, Appanoose Co., IA. Joe was the son of John William Davis and Ratha Ann Adams. Joe died February 27, 2001 in Parnell, Iowa Co., IA.
Martha Lucille Andeway and Joe Riley Davis had the following children:
