OBITT: Mr. Michael Shawn "Mater" Myers, 35, of Old Stage Road, passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009 at his home. He was born Aug. 11, 1973 in Yadkin County to David Myers and Janice Allen Smith. Mr. Myers was a graduate of Forbush High School and Forsyth Technical College. He worked as a manager with J.S. Myers Company, loved fishing and playing golf.

Mr. Myers was of the Baptist faith, loved spending time with his many friends and family, and loved the children of his cousins and family as his own. He was raised by his father, David Myers, grandmother, Mary Myers, and was preceded in death by both of them. Surviving are his aunts and uncles, Betty and Charles Shore, Johnny and Carolyn Myers, Charlotte and the late Roger Shore, Isaac "Buzz" Allgood, Darlene Jenkins, and Bonnie Williams; half-sisters, Gina McCallister, and Angela Sheek; half-brother, Terry McClannon; nieces, nephews, and cousins, Kayla Reavis, Alison, Lindsey, and Hannah Sheek; Caroline and Cortney Myers, Justin and Jordan Myers; Zachary and Whitney Matthews, Carrie Hall, Kyra and Krista Lundy, Madelyn Shore, Jessica Disher, and Katlyn Disher; and several close cousins and friends. The family received friends Wednesday, Aug. 5 at Deep Creek Baptist Church.
