Julia died January 10, 2010 in Forsyth Co., NC. OBIT: Mrs. Julia Emma Gardner , age 84, of 1156 Glenview Drive, died Monday, January 10, 2000 at her home. Mrs. Gardner was born in Yadkin County, a daughter of the late William and Emma Hutchens Atwood. She was a member of Glenn View Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Mr. Lewis C. Gardner , Sr. of the home; two sons and their wives, Lewis C. and Doris Gardner of Summerfield and Roger Lee and Mary Ann Gardner of High Point; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2000 at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home Chapel, Kernersville. Burial will follow in Glenn View Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 7:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She married Lewis Cornelius Gardner. Lewis was born September 19,1917 in Guilford Co., NC. Lewis was the son of Edward Gardner and Alice Parks. Lewis died May 2, 2001 in Durham, Durham Co., NC. OBIT: Mr. Lewis Cornelius Gardner Sr., 83, of 1156 Glenview Drive died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Durham Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 19, 1917, in Guilford County, a son of Edward and Alice Parks Gardner . Mr. Gardner was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia A. Gardner . Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger Lee and Mary Ann Gardner of High Point and Lewis C. Jr. and wife Doris Gardner of Summerfield; two brothers, Bill Gardner and Jim Gardner of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Chapel by the Rev. Bill Coleman. Burial will follow in the Glenview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
