John died August 7, 2013 in Maiden, Catawba Co., NC. OBITS: Sinclair and Willie Bolick MAIDEN Sinclair and Willie Bolick, ages 91 and 88, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, Sinclair, at their residence and Willie, at Catawba Regional Hospice. This much-loved couple passed on the same day and reunited in heaven following 71 years of marriage; death did not part them for long. John Sinclair Bolick was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Catawba County, to Coyte Bolick and Lillie Bolick. Known to everyone as Sinclair, he was retired from Carolina Glove where he served as their Vice President and General Manager. Sinclair was a member of the Woodsmen of the World and the Elks Club. He was a beloved Sunday school teacher, was elected Lay Leader, served as Chairman of the Finance Committee for many years at First Methodist Church in Maiden. He served his community by being Chairman on the Maiden School Board for many years. Sinclair was the manager and commentator for Carolina Mills' baseball team. He was known for his stories and his humor. His favorite hobby was fishing and he loved working beside his wife in their garden. In his later years, he was a regular in the back pew at church where all the children stopped to get some Werther's candy from the "Candy Man". Willie Gardner Bolick was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Lincoln County, to William Gardner and Mildred Davis Gardner Robinson. Willie was a beloved wife and mother who loved nothing more than planting and harvesting a big garden and cooking it for her family. There was no better cook and she enjoyed taking meals to friends and members of her church. She was an excellent seamstress and took much pride in making her daughters' wedding dresses and her grandchildren's clothes. She was also known for the beautiful flowers she grew and shared with others. She was a selfless, loving lady and always gave of herself endlessly. Willie worked at Ethan Allen and was one of the first female fabric cutters in the furniture industry. She finished her career at Southern Furniture and retired to enjoy gardening, canning and family. Besides both of their parents, they were preceded in death by a son, Mickey Gardner Bolick in 1948. They are survived by their son, Dr. Reginald Bolick and wife, Jenelle, their daughter, Pamela Gilbert and husband, Nick, their son, Jay Bolick and wife, Susan, and their daughter, Cindy Williams and husband, Larry; 13 grandchildren, Mark Reginald Bolick, Leslie Bolick Bolden, Michael Sinclair Bolick, Logan Bolick McGill, Miranda Knight, Melissa Gilbert Boley, Natalie Gilbert Palin, Christin Williams Leggett, Alison Williams, Hilary Williams Bradley, Katie Bolick O'Donohue, and Jason Paul Bolick; and 12 great-grand-children, Asa Bolden, Celeste Bolden, William Zachary Boley, Tyler Boley, William Sinclair Bolick, Davis McGill, Carter McGill, Gracie McGill, Holden Leggett, Cass Leggett, Cora Bradley and Nolan O'Donohue. A celebration of their lives will be held today (Sunday, Aug. 11), at First Methodist Church of Maiden, located at 303 North Main Ave., Maiden. The family will be receiving friends in the church's Fellowship Hall from 1 to 3 p.m. with the service immediately following at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in the Maiden City Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to their beloved First United Methodist Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital . The family sincerely thanks the wonderful caregivers who provided exceptional care and love to our parents enabling them to stay at home in their declining health.

He married Willie M. Gardner. Willie was born January 20, 1925 in Lincoln Co., NC. Willie was the daughter of Willliam Gardner and Mildred Davis. Willie died August 7, 2013 in Maiden, Catawba Co., NC.
