Glen Aldon⁹ Barton (Lora Easel⁸ Fryman, Jereamiah (Jerry) M.⁷, Mary Eleanor C.⁶ Hornick, Rachel⁵ Baity, Rebecca⁴ Allgood, William (Pikey) Henry³, William John², Edward¹) was born in Banner, MO October 10, 1919. Glen died March 31, 2000 in Potosi, Washington Co., MO. OBIT: Glen Alton Barton, of Potosi, Mo., passed away Friday, March 31, 2000, in Washington County memorial Hospital at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 21 days. He was born November 10, 1919, at Banner, Mo., to the late Clarence O. and Lora (Fryman) Barton.

Mr. Barton was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country proudly in the Battles of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Central Europe and the Rhineland during World War II. He was awarded 5 Bronze Stars for his part in these campaigns.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Berlin and Huey Barton; two infant sisters and one infant brother.

Those who remain to survive him are two daughters, Glenna (Mrs. Wayne) Carpenter and Cheryl (Mrs. Bob) Wiggs, all of Texas; two sons, Leon Elkins and wife, Joyce and of Texas and Lawrence Elkins and wife, Pat in England; two sisters, Opal Maurine Barton of Potosi and Vagene Brewer of Cedar Hill; two brothers, Elwood Barton of Potosi and Elza Barton and wife, Jewell of Pilot Knob; 19 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Dr. Gary McCord officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Wayne Carpenter, Dan Dinger, Cliff Maness, Johnny Akers and Darrin Strange. Burial with Military Honors was in the Ottery Creek Cemetery, Belleview, Mo., under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
