William Lloyd Walker
William Lloyd Walker, 73, of Brookhaven, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at the chapel of Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive with burial in the Heuck's Retreat Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Walker was born on Feb. 14, 1938, in Lincoln County to Clyde and Lucille Allgood Walker.
He was a member of Heuck's Retreat Baptist Church and a Mason.
He had worked offshore as an oilfield mechanic and was an Army veteran.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Jerelene Smith Walker; his parents, Clyde and Lucille Allgood Walker; and his sister, Betty Jo Walker.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Teresa Walker, of Brookhaven; his brother and sister-in-law, Alton "Bookie" and Ernestine Walker, of Brookhaven; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Mel Iasigi, of Bookhaven; three grandchildren, Austin, Jessalyn and Emily Walker, all of Brookhaven; and his special niece, Haley Terrell.
He married Jerlene Smith. Jerlene was born August 22, 1933 in Lincoln Co., MS. Jerlene was the daughter of James K. Smith and Hollyce Smith. Jerlene died May 29, 2008 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Jerelene Walker, of Brookhaven, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive with burial in Heuck's Retreat Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Walker, 74, died May 29, 2008, at her residence. She was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 22, 1933, to James K. Smith and Hollyce Smith Smith. She was a retired telephone and switchboard operator, and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Heuck's Retreat Baptist Church, where she was an active member of her church and Sunday school class. She was a graduate of Loyd Star High School. Preceding her in death were her parents. Survivors are her husband, William Lloyd Walker, of Brookhaven; her son, Jim Walker and wife Teresa, of Brookhaven; her brother, Curtis Smith, of Brookhaven; her sisters, Aileen Traxler and husband Vic, of Utica, Peggy Porter and husband Carroll, of Flynn, Texas, Linda Faye Smith, and Charlotte Terrell and husband Robert, all of Brookhaven; her grandchildren, Austin Walker, Jessalyn Walker and Emily Walker; a special niece, of Haley Terrell; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Austin Walker, Will Lofton, Kevin Traxler, Dwight Traxler, Kendall Traxler and Jason Terrell. Horary pallbearers are Paul Lofton, Vic Traxler, Carroll Porter and Robert Terrell. Mmorials may be made to Hospice Ministries of Brookhaven.
