Dorothy was the daughter of Homer Landon Britt and Ida Corene Minton. Dorothy died March 29, 2005 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Dorothy Jean Smith, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31 at Macedonia Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith, 75, died March 29, 2005, at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Brookhaven on Feb. 6, 1930, to Homer L. Britt and Ida C. Minton Britt. She was a homemaker and dairy farmer. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters, Allie Mae Gunnell and Betty Vee Brewer; and her brother, James Britt. Survivors are her husband, Hoyte Smith, of Brookhaven; her sons, Wayne Jeffery Smith, and his wife, Debbie, and Mitchell Purvis Smith, all of Brookhaven; her sister, Lessie McKoy, of Bronson, Fla.; her brothers, Clayton Britt and Tom Britt, both of Brookhaven, and Charles Britt, of Nederland, Texas; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
