OBIT: Services for Hallie Mae Smith Lea, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel with burial in New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Lea, 99, died May 31, 2006, at her residence. She was born on Oct. 24, 1906, to Johnson C. Smith and Mary McGee Smith. She was a homemaker. She was a member of New Salem Church of Christ. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Shereard W. Lea; her grandson, Jeffrey B. Johnson; her brothers, Claude, Clyde, Percy, Clark and Thomas Smith; and her sister, Estelle Hardin. Survivors are her son, Wallace Lea and wife LaVetta, of Joplin, Mo.; her daughters, Nan Oestmann and husband Art, of Midland, Texas, and Betty Johnston and husband Bryant, of Brookhaven; her brothers, Sam V. Smith and C. Denver Smith; her sister, Ina Bell McCoy; and her six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, 913 Hwy. 550 NW Brookhaven, MS, or Hospice Ministries, 397 Brookhaven St., Brookhaven, MS.

She married Shereard Wallace Lea. Shereard was born January 16, 1906. Shereard died August 25, 1989 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co, MS.

Hallie Mae Smith and Shereard Wallace Lea had the following children:
