25573 iii. Judy Ione Alford was born in McComb, Pike Co., MS December 3, 1942. Judy died July 28, 2004 in McComb, Pike Co., MS. OBIT: Judy Ione Alford, 61, of McComb, died July 28, 2004, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held Friday, July 30, 2004, at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. The Rev. Loney Joe Hallberg will officiate. Immediately following the services, the family will receive friends at Hartman Funeral Home.Miss Alford was born Dec. 3, 1942, in McComb. She was the daughter of the late John Warner Alford Sr. and Inez Chandler Alford. At McComb High School, she was selected Miss MHS. She attended the University of Mississippi, where she pledged Chi Omega and was named a Phi Delta Theta Sweetheart. She began her career in banking at First National Bank in Jackson and later in McComb. She also worked with Louisiana National Bank in Baton Rouge, La.. She operated Homemakers Paradise, Denman-Alford Fabrics and later the Denman-Alford Co. After 1980, she was associated with Lit Alford,l Jim Alford and Duke Carlisle. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and a sustaining member of McComb Junior Auxiliary. Having contracted polio when she was eight years old, she was very active with the McComb March of Dimes. Survivors include two brothers and a sister-in-law, Warner and Kay Alford of Oxford, and Charles Alford of McComb; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Buddy Nichols of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and six nieces and nephews, Swayze Alford, John Alford and Phyllis Alford Daniels, all of Oxford, and Amanda Nichols Ficek, Blakeney Nichols Jones and Chandler Nichols Shelton, all of Minneapolis. Pallbearers will be Billy Martin, Billy Neville, John Beard Neville, Billy Moore, Jay Travis, Duke Carlisle and Wallace Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Alford, Peck Sherman and Harry Raddon. Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes or Centenary United Methodist Church.
