Wife of Pvt. Charlie Bowman Laid to Rest At Mt. Moriah
The funeral of Mrs. Thelma Allgood Bowman, of Bogue Chitto, wife of Pvt. Charlie Bowman, stationed at Camp Hood, Texas, took place at 11 a.m. Friday in the Mount Moriah Baptist church, a few miles south of Brookhaven. The Rev. Lewis Wells officiated, assisted by the Rev. Jas. Allgood. Interment in the Mount Moriah cemetery followed. Serving as pall bearers were three nephews of Mrs. Bowman, Earl Anderson Clayton Allgood and Wilroy Allgood; a brother-in-law, Johnny Bowman; cousin, Hubell Smith and Geo. Ballard. Beautiful floral tributes and the presence of the immediate family, relatives and friends expressed the regard felt for Mrs. Bowman.
Mrs. Bowman, 31 years of age, passed away Tuesday, April 10, in Gatesville, Texas, where she had gone recently to spend a few weeks with her husband, on duty at Camp Hood. Pvt. Bowman came to Brookhaven on the same train which brought the body of his wife Thursday afternoon.
During the hours between the arrival of Mrs. Bowman's body and the funeral, the casket rested at the home in Brookhaven of her brother Willie Allgood.
Mrs. Bowman's death at came at a time when life held so much of mingled happiness and responsibility for her, is especially sad. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister. Many will miss her friendship.
She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Bowman are her husband, Pvt. Charlie Bowman of Bogue Chitto, R 2 and Camp Hood, Texas; little sons, Charles Ralph Bowman, in school, and Larry Wayne Bowman, a pre-school child, both of Bogue Chitto, R 2; father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Allgood, Brookhaven; brothers, Willie Allgood and Robert Allgood, both of Brookhaven and Cpl. J. B. Allgood, overseas; and sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Allen, Brookhaven, R 3, and Mrs. Annie Bell Huckaby, Bogue Chitto, R 2.
She married Charles (Charlie) Ralph Bowman. Charles was born November 1, 1915 in Fulton, AR. Charles was the son of William Irvin Bowman and Axie Pittman. Charles died May 27, 1973 in Rome, Tallapoosa Co., AL.
Thelma Rose Allgood and Charles (Charlie) Ralph Bowman had the following children:

25282 ii. Larry Wayne Bowman was born October 31, 1939. Larry died December 20, 2006 in Union Springs, AL. OBIT: BOWMAN, Larry Wayne, 67, of Union Springs, Alabama, died December 20, 2006 in Union Springs.
Gravesides services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2006, 1 p.m., in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Brookhaven, Mississippi with Minister Eddie Maher officiating and Gray FuneralHome directing.
He is survived by three brothers, Carl J. Bowman and Richard K.Bowman of Montgomery, Alabama and Daniel Lynn Bowman of Millbrook, Alabama.
Visitation will be Wednesday,December 27, 2006 from 5 pm -7 pm from Gray Funeral Home.
Larry was buried in the Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Bogue Chitto, LIncoln Co., MS
