Donald died September 6, 2015 in Decatur, Macon Co., IL. OBIT: Donald “Gene” King, 83, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord and his wife Bernita at 3:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Gene was born on September 24, 1931 in Decatur, the son of Donald O. and Helen (Nicholls) King. Gene married Bernita L. Harrell on September 8, 1951. She preceded him in death on September 20, 2012. Gene was also preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Stan Roush.

Gene is survived by his son, Randy G. (Karen) King; daughters, Rita K. (Rick) Lowe, Renae K. (David) Overlin and Roxanne K. Roush; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and brothers, Jack (Pat) King and Rex (Velma) King.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. Gene was an Ag teacher for a few years, grain elevator manager for Ralston Purina in Elwin and was a real estate agent for Lyle Campbell and Son Realtors until his retirement. He was a member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church and the Decatur Lions Club.

He married three times. He married Leola Joyce Scovel. Leola was born July 28, 1928 in Oneida, IA. Leola was the daughter of Leon E Scovel and Nettie B. Mitchell. Leola died April 13, 1999 in Bakersfield, Kern Co., CA. He married Brenda Harrell September 8, 1951. Brenda was the daughter of George B Harrell and Freda B Ellis. Brenda died September 20, 2012.
