He was born Jan. 17, 1933, in Minneapolis to Wilbur and Helen (Tracy) Baity.
Mr. Baity had worked at American Home Foods from 1968 to 1983.
On July 8, 1961, in LaPorte, he married Lela Coomler, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Helen (Don) Ford of LaPorte; one son, Raymond L. of LaPorte; three grandchildren, Ryan, Zackery and Don Ford Jr.; two sisters, Dolores Kime and Patricia McGinnis, both of LaPorte; and one brother, James of St. Joseph, Mich.
His parents and one sister, Joanne Samaradak, preceded him in death.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Wayne Rosson officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte.

Mrs. Lela M. Baity, 72, of 1503 E. Lincoln Way, LaPorte, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at 5:47 a.m. at LaPorte Hospital.
She was born April 24, 1934, in Peru, Ind., to Roscoe and Lela (McCallie) Coomler.
Mrs. Baity was a homemaker. She attended Harvest Time Church of God in LaPorte.
On July 8, 1961, in LaPorte, she married Raymond Baity, who died June 17, 2006.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Ross, Ray and Gayle Coomler.
Surviving are one daughter, Helen Ford of LaPorte; one son, Raymond of LaPorte; three grandchildren, Ryan, Don Jr. and Zachery Ford; and one brother, Paul D. Coomler of Margate, Fla.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Wayne Rosson officiating. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte.
