Clyde died April 8, 2008 in Fort Stockton, Pecos, TX. OBIT: Clyde E. Word, 73 of Fort Stockton, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his home in Fort Stockton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Northside Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Bennett and Scott W. Owens officiating. Burial will be at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. He was born in Brownwood. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church. SURVIVORS Wife, Mary Word of Fort Stockton; sons, Larry Word of Sonora and Clyde Word II of Martinsburg, W.Va.; daughters, Martha Peterson of Lakewood, Colo., Sandra Klein of Georgetown, Brenda Lo of Austin and Becky Rojas of Fort Stockton; mother and stepfather, Eda May Sparkman and Robert G. Sparkman of Brownwood; sisters, Ila May Swinney of Lake Brownwood, and Dottie Sue Layman of Brownwood; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mary was the daughter of Alberto Valenzuela and Magdalena Pena. Mary died May 19, 2009 in Georgetown, Williamson Co., TX. OBIT: Mary Alice Valenzuela Word, 73, of Fort Stockton, passed away on May 19, 2009, in Georgetown, Texas. Rosary/vigil prayer services will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Hall. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Richard Waiwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. Mrs. Word was born on June 25, 1935, in Fort Stockton, Texas. She married Clyde E. Word on May 18, 1958. She lived in Fort Stockton all her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Word on April 8, 2008; her father, Alberto Valenzuela; a brother, Antonio Valenzuela; and a granddaughter, Danielle Klein in 1997.
She is survived by four daughters, Martha Peterson and her husband Mike of Lakewood, Colo., Sandra Klein and her husband Steve of Georgetown, Texas, Brenda Lo and her husband James of Austin, Texas, and Becky Rojas and her husband Richard of Fort Stockton; two sons, Larry Word and his wife Kay of Sonora, Texas, and Clyde Word II of Martinsburg, W.V.; her mother, Magdalena Pena Valenzuela of Fort Stockton, Texas; her sister, Barbara Valenzuela Hammond of Edinburg, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
