June died July 29, 2011 in Bettendorf, Scott Co., IA. OBIT: June E. Bettis, 90, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or the Iowa Masonic Health Facility.
She was born November 25, 1920 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of John William & Dora Ellen (Woods) Allgood. On November 4, 1939 she was united in marriage to Ethan W. Bettis in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2002.
June was employed at the Continental Bakery of Davenport retiring in 1986 after 23 years of service. She & her husband enjoyed their winter trips to Florida, fishing at Lake Okeechobee and in later years at Sebring, Florida.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Janet (Dale) Stroud of Springfield, Ohio; her sons, Richard (Linda) Bettis of LeClaire, Iowa and Larry (Diana) Bettis of Moline, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Roland; her granddaughter, Barbara Ford; her sisters, Marie Leaut, Dorothy Bruley and Norma Richards; and her brothers, George Allgood, Bill Allgood, Clarence Allgood, Louis Allgood and Stuart Allgood.
June and Ethan were buried in the Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport, Scott Co., IA
She married Ethan Wayne Bettis November 4, 1939 in Kansas City, Jackson Co, MO. Ethan was born April 17, 1917. Ethan was the son of Charles Nathan Bettis and Estella Jeannette Crawford. Ethan died January 17, 2002.
June Ellen Allgood and Ethan Wayne Bettis had the following children:
