He married Frances Hamilton. Frances was born January 2, 1922. Frances died April 26, 2009 in Florence, Colbert Co., AL. OBIT: Frances H. Allgood, 87, of Florence, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009, after an extended illness. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Florence and the Mary Douglass Bender Sunday school class. Frances was born and raised in Russellville, Alabama, then moved to Florence after graduating from Auburn University. She was a resident of Florence for over 60 years. The Allgood family expresses its deepest gratitude to Clara Mae Thompson who was Frances' lifelong friend. Also, we thank the Mitchell-Hollingsworth staff and Dr. John Bartmess for their compassionate care during her stay there. Mrs. Allgood is survived by her sons William Y. Allgood of Killen, John H. Allgood and wife, Barbara, of Killen, and James E. Allgood and wife, Annette, of Alexandria, VA.; her sister, Mary Hester, of Russellville and her brother, Ralph Hamilton, of Statesville, NC. She is also survived by her six grandchildren -- Christian, Sara, Amy, James, Alan, and Evan, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She had five four-legged great grandchildren: Tippy, Freckles, Tony, Myrtle, and Boomer!

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Hilland Y. Allgood, and brothers Gordon Hamilton and Harvey Hamilton. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 30, at 4:00 p.m. at Tri Cities Memorial Gardens (2601 Florence Blvd [Hwy 72]) in Florence with Rev. Gary Formby officiating. 19167 iii. William (Bill) Young Allgood was born in Florence, Lauderdale Co., AL July 27, 1956. William died February 22, 2010 in Florence, Lauderdale Co., AL. OBIT: William “Bill” Young Allgood, born July 27, 1956, died suddenly on Monday, February 22, 2010. Bill was a life-long resident of the Shoals area. He was baptized at First United Methodist Church where he was a member for 53 Years. Bill graduated from Bradshaw High School in 1976, where he served as manager of the varsity football, basketball, baseball and track teams. Following graduation, he worked with Hibbett Sporting Goods for 20 years at the Florence Boulevard location. Bill loved working with his friends at Hibbett’s and with the many coaches in the Shoals area. Whether he was riding his bicycle through the neighborhood delivering newspapers as a teenager or traveling around the country to be with family and friends, Bill had a great zest for life and lived each day to the fullest. He was an inspiration to those who knew him, facing life’s many challenges with courage and strength. He was quick witted and quick to laugh. He enjoyed sampling all the new restaurants in the Shoals and visiting with friends and family, in person and on various online forums. He particularly enjoyed the annual Marietta Methodist Camp Meeting with his special relatives and friends in Georgia. His hobby and great love of his life were his dogs. In 1999, he authored a book for his family, entitled “All the Dogs of My Life.” Bill was preceded in death by his father, Hilland Young Allgood and mother, Frances Hamilton Allgood. Bill is survived by his brothers, James E. Allgood and wife Annette of Alexandria, Virginia; John H. Allgood and wife, Barbara of Killen, Alabama; beloved nieces and nephews, Sara Middlebrooks and husband Erik, Amy Allgood, Alan Allgood, James Allgood, Evan Allgood, and Chris Allgood and fiancé, Theresa Esposito; and by several special cousins. Bill is also survived by his faithful canine companions, Tippy, Freckles, and Sally. Visitation for Mr. Allgood will begin Thursday, February 25 at 12:00pm until the funeral service at 1:00pm at Elkins Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday, February 26 at 12:00pm at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chris Allgood, Alan Allgood, James Allgood, Evan Allgood, Erik Middlebrooks, David Tate, and Jim Frawley. Dr. Randall Little will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
