30733. Dixie Lee9 Daniel (Myrtle Alva8 Morris, Margaret (Maggie) E.7 Simons, Louisa Jane6 Ely, Susan Ann5 Childers, Elizabeth4 Allgood, John3, Ishmael2, Edward1) was born in Gainesville, Cooke Co., TX October 7, 1923. Dixie died November 10l, 2011 in Brown Co., TX. OBIT: Dixie Gold of Plainview, Texas, was born Dixie Lee Daniel on Oct. 7, 1923, in Gainesville, Texas, to Robert and Myrtle (Danny) Daniel. She "went to Heaven on Cloud 9" Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tanya Carver Gutierrez and husband Daniel of San Angelo, and Renee Hubbard Betts of Midland; granddaughters, Rebecca Abalos Fagan and husband, Josh of Jacksonville, Fla., Lexie Stout Gunder and husband, Adrian of San Antonio, and Loryn Mikell Betts of Midland; great-granddaughters, Alexis Renee Gunder (3) and Lyla Grace Fagan (2); and brother, Shorty Daniel and wife Marie of Amarillo.

Dixie had a life-long passion for art, music, sports and animals. She absolutely loved her horses and her dogs and took in several strays throughout the years. She was an accomplished artist, avid pianist and instilled those passions in her daughters. Through the years, she played tennis, bowled, hunted, played golf and softball as well as coached her girls in softball and basketball. She was notorious for demanding that all her players display good sportsmanship, shouting from the sidelines "Good sportsmanship, ladies or I'll bench you - I will!"

After graduating from business school, Dixie was a medical technician in the cardiology field for many years. Anyone who knew her very well knew she never really needed a doctor (ha ha) because she made a habit of diagnosing herself!

The love of her life was two-fold - her horses and her granddaughters - first Lexie, then Rebecca, then Loryn. She spent several years ranching in the Brownwood area and although she loved riding horses, her granddaughters will tell you, "Grandma rode a mean three-wheeler!"

Dixie was always an independent woman, even when it wasn't popular for women to be so. Although she was stubborn and sassy and insisted on having things her way (because that was the right way), she had a huge heart and leaves behind the memory of her caring and generous spirit. Dixie, you will be greatly missed - Adios, My Friend! We love you, Mom/Grandmother - yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Per Dixie's request, a casual celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at her home, 2703 Jefferson in Plainview. Friends and family are invited to share memories, funny stories and a toast to Dixie on her "Cloud 9 to Heaven." Only laughter, smiles and tears of joy are acceptable.

She married three times. She married Grady Calvin Carver. Grady was born March 12, 1920 in Salem, Newton Co., TX. Grady was the son of Wilbur Jacob Carver and Ollie Viola Brooks. Grady died July 8, 2005 in San Angelo, Tom Green Co., TX. OBIT: Grady Calvin Carver died Friday, July 8, 2005. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today in Rose Hill cemetery in Tulia with Doris Hueckert, chaplain of Hospice in Dimmitt, officiating. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

At 8:30 on the beautiful morning of Friday, July 8, my precious father took his last breath and passed to a more peaceful home. Daddy is walking with his mother and father, strolling forever in the gardens of Heaven. His eyesight is clear, his breathing is easy and his hands are no longer cold.

It is said that angels walk among us and I know this to be true, for those whose names I know are written forever in my heart. I give thanks for the care and gentleness of those who cared for my daddy, especially the hospice nurses, Alice and Debbie, who held his hand and gently stroked his head. God bless you all and may your wings carry you forever and a day.

Be at peace, daddy, and rest well. I will check on you in a bit. Always, your loving daughter....
