A. died January 19, 2013 in Jackson, Hinds Co, MS. OBIT: A.J. "Bug" Allen, 77, a resident of McCall Creek, passed away Jan. 19, 2013, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Mr. Allen was born Dec. 26, 1935, to the late James "Jim" Allen and Grace Smith Allen.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator, a veteran of the U.S. Army and was affiliated with Arlington Baptist Church of Bogue Chitto.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice Murray Allen; and his brother-in-law, Lemuel Murray.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. in Brookhaven Funeral Home chapel, Natchez Drive location; burial will follow at Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday from 5 until 9 p.m.
Mr. Allen is survived by his son, Kevin Allen and wife Molly; his daughter, Janet Halford and husband, Chad; 10 grandchildren, Alex, Kasie, Taylor, Tyler, Austin, Dawson, Brandon, Addison, Cameron and Warren; his sister-in-law, Jean Murray, all of McCall Creek. He is also survived by one brother, Pete Allen of Bogue Chitto and two sisters, Elaine Black and Nancy Landry, both of Baton Rouge, La.; one niece and six nephews.
He married Janice Murray. Janice was born October 19, 1945 in Lincoln Co., MS. Janice was the daughter of Alfred Murray and Cora Mae Hall. Janice died May 12, 2009 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co, MS. OBIT: Services for Janice Murray Allen, of McCall Creek, are 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on Natchez Drive with burial in Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery in McCall Creek.
Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Allen, 63, died May 12, 2009, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. She was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 19, 1945, to Alfred Murray and Cora Mae Hall Murray.
She was employed at Delphi in housekeeping.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors are her husband, A.J. Allen, of McCall Creek; a son, Kevin Allen, of McCall Creek; a daughter, Janet Halford and husband, Chad, of McCall Creek; a brother, Lemuel Murray and wife, Jean, of McCall Creek; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Landry and husband, Wayne, of Greenwell Springs, La., and Elaine Black and husband, Cloy, of Baton Rouge, La.; a brother-in-law, Pete Allen, of Bogue Chitto; and her eight grandchildren, Alex, Kasie, Taylor, Tyler, Kaden, Austin, Dawson and Brandon.
