Bud Allgood was born on March 20, 1927. After the death of his best friend and beloved wife, Sue, he moved in with his son David. After complications with his health, he died in his son's home on March 14, 2016.
He was born and raised in Lamberts Point, Norfolk and was very proud of his local roots. He was the youngest of ten brothers and sisters. He lied about his age and joined the National Guard and while in high school was drafted by the Army. Upon returning from WWII he returned to Maury High School and graduated. After he joined the Norfolk Fire Department the next day he married his best friend and loving wife "Sue" of sixty-two years. He was always committed to his fellow fire fighters and continued to be committed even after retiring with forty-three years of service. He was the last of the Allgood Fire Fighters to retire. His fond memories of his fellow fire fighter brother/sisters were always close to his heart. You could always expect to hear loving stories about the old days of the fire department, the war or his many cherished memories. He was truly a book of knowledge.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Lloyd C. "Bucky" Allgood of Tallahassee, FL, Richard F. Allgood of Norfolk, VA, David E. Allgood and wife Punkin Allgood of Chesapeake, VA; his grandchildren, Davey Allgood, Owen Alcorn, Chip Kyper, Gary Lane and wife, Rena; three great grandchildren Ofelia Lane, KayLee and Kendall Kyper.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce "Susie" Allgood and grandson, Jason Allgood.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home by Senior Police-Fire Chaplain Leroy Briggs and Norfolk Fire Chief Jeffery F. Wise officiating. Burial with follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. Norfolk Fire-Rescue Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers and conduct full honors.
He married Joyce Lee Beard June 22,1949 in Norfolk, Norfolk Co., VA. Joyce was born December 30,1931 in Norfolk, Norfolk Co., VA. Joyce was the daughter of Milton Beard and Katherine Elizabeth Ewell.
