He married Jane Haswell. Jane was born February 7,1952. Jane was the daughter of Bennie Edward Haswell and Georgia Steelman. Jane died September 10, 2012. OBIT: Jane Carter Hope, age 60, of Chase City, died September 10, 2012. She was a former lab technician with Durham County Health Department and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Russell Hope, Jr., children, Kevin Carter and wife, Stephanie of Charlottesville, Kim Conner and husband, Steve of Chase City, grandchildren, Adam Grassel, Katie Huot, Jeremy Conner, Bridget Conner, and Samantha Carter. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service.
