Thomas died March 9, 2008 in Tarboro, Edgecombe Co., NC. OBIT: Thomas Goode Allgood Jr. Thomas Goode Allgood, Jr., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday Mar. 9, 2008. He was born June 2, 1926 in Rocky Mount, N.C. to the late Thomas G. Allgood, Sr. and Mary Lou B. Allgood. Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, the former Betty Sue Doles of Elm City; four daughters: Sherry A. Smith and husband Forrest of Tarboro; Betsy A. Harrell and husband Mike of Rocky Mount; Carolyn A. Waff and husband Eric of Cary; and Kendra A. Phillips and husband Chuck of Moravian Falls; sister, Joy A. Williams and brother, Gene B. Allgood, both of Wilson; six grandchildren: Hunter and Alexa Waff of Cary and Kennie, Charley, Jordie and Reilly Phillips of Moravian Falls. Following high school, Tom served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Upon honorable discharge, he attended N.C. State University, graduating with a degree in Engineering. Tom retired from Carolina Telephone as Director-Toll Revenues in 1985 with 35 years of service. Following retirement, he served 12 years on the Tarboro Town Council. In his many roles, Tom was well known and highly regarded as a man of great integrity and character. The family would like to especially thank all of the caregivers and staff at the Fountains of the Albemarle for their kindness, love and compassion during the last 19 months. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 10, 2008 at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A service to celebrate Tom's life will be held on Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2008 at 1 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church in Tarboro, N.C.
