Oren died May 18, 2010 in East Liverpool, Columbiana Co., OH. OLBIT Oren Dane Knipe, 79, of Armstrong Lane, East Liverpool, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at the East Liverpool Convalescent Center, after a lengthy illness. Born in Shamrock, Texas, November 26, 1930, Mr. Knipe was the son of the late William Denny Knipe and Opal Duncan Knipe.Duane completed his undergraduate degree while on scholarship for Rodeo and served in the US Army' s Ranger Division as a commissioned officer. He was employed as a research scientist with the U.S. Department of Forestry, while completing his Ph.D in animal nutrition. After his retirement in 1987 from managing the Mustang herds out west, he worked for the late Hall of Fame trainer Charley Whitingham as the first equine chiropractor in the country. Moving east, he began a successful career in training thoroughbreds, although he frequently advised that the hardest part of his job, was training the owners.
