2346. Faye Alice7 Phipps (Margaret A.6 Staggs, Rachel5 Allgood, Spencer4, Edward3, William2 Algood, Edward1 Allgood) was born in Parke Co., IN October 31, 1889. Faye died November 10,1958 in Veedersburg, Fountain Co., IN.

She married Earl M. Boord 1910. Earl was born January 28,1890 in Fountain Co., IN. Earl was the son of Joseph J. Boord and Mariam Miller. Earl died February 5, 1970 in Danville, Vermillion Co., IL. OBIT: Earl M. Boord, 80, Sterling community resident who was injured in a traffic accident Feb 5 died early Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill.

He was born Jan 28, 1890 in Fountain County to Joseph and Mariam Miller Boord. He married Alice Phipps in 1910. She preceded him in death in 1958. A sister also preceded him in death. Mr. Boord was a member of the Sterling Christian Church. He was a retired trucker.

Surviving are six children, Robert of Las Vegas, Nev; Mrs. Robert (Helen) Clements of Hillsboro and Mrs. Mariam Layman, Mrs. Thelma Irwin, Leighton and Joe all of Veedersburg; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Nine of Mellott and Mrs. Ernest (Dottie) Hesler of Veedersburg; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Sterling Christian Church with Rev. Bill Keller officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro. Friends may call at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro."

7399 ii. Mariam Boord was born in Veedersburg, Fountain Co., IN September 19, 1914. She married Charles Thomas Layman September 27,1950 in Veedersburg, Fountain Co., IN. Charles was born June 21, 1915. Charles was the son of Jesse Layman and Clenna Smith. Charles died May 22, 1952 in Fountain Co., IN.

7401 iv. Leighton Monroe Boord was born in Fountain Co., IN January 13, 1919. Leighton died Januayr 1, 1991 in Williamsport, Warren Co., IN. OBIT: Leighton M. Boord, 71, of Veedersburg died Jan. 1, at the Community Hospital in Williamsport IN. He was born Jan. 13, 1919 in Sterling the son of Earl and Alice Phipps 8oord. He was a life resident of Veedersburg.

Mr. Boord was a member of the Sterling Christian Church. He was employed for 34 years at R.R. Donnelley in Crawfordsville as a typesetter. He retired in 1973.

Survivors include: 2 brothers Joe of Veedersburg and Robert of Las Vegas, N4; 2 sisters Thelma Irwin of Veedersburg and Mrs. Robert (Helen) Clements of Hillsboro; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Mariam Layman.

Visitation is Thursday Jan. 3, from 2-8 p.m. at the Parham Shelby Funeral Rome in Veedersburg with services on Friday Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Sterling Christian Church with Gary Johnson and Todd Winkler officiating. Burial in Rockfield Cemetery. He married Patricia Louise Ludlow August 7, 1952 in IN.

Patricia was born March 22, 1929. Patricia is the daughter of Ernest W. Ludlow and Flora Berdina Romine.

7402 v. Robert O. Boord was born in Fountain Co., IN Janaury 16, 1929. Robert died July 30, 2012 in NV. OBIT: Dr. Robert O. Boord, Professor Emeritus, UNLV, and one of the founding professors of the College of Education, passed away July, 30 2012 at 83. Born in Veedersburg, Ind., Jan 16, 1929, Dr. Boord served as teacher and principal in Indiana, prior to entering the U.S. Army and serving in Germany. After completing his doctorate degree in children's literature, he began teaching at UNLV in 1963 as one of the pioneering professors at the newly created college prior to its becoming a full-fledged university. During his tenure, he served as department chair of curriculum and instruction. Dr. Boord was an early member of AFAN and worked every year to organize the walk for AIDS research. He retired from the university in 1993. His parents, Alice and Earl Boord, and his dear sister, Thelma Erwin, preceded him in death. His niece, Alice Stonecipher of Hillsboro, Ind. and nephew, William Clemens of Bay Village, Ohio survive him. Dr. Boord enjoyed traveling and spent one year as an exchange professor in New Zealand. He also traveled throughout Europe and China. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the UNLV Foundation.
