Josie died January 26, 1931 in Phenix City, Russell Co., AL. Obit published on January 27, 1931: Mrs Jossie Durden, 27, died yesterday at 11:50 o'clock at ther home, 1217 Ninth Street, Phenix City, after an illness of four weeks. Mrs Durden had lived all her life in Phenix City and was a member of Bethany Congregational Church. Surivors include her husband, R. W. Durden; two son, Henry and Charles Durden, one daughter Willie Durden, her other, Joe F. Newsome; five brothers, Olin, RC. Reuben, Owen, and Herbert, Newsome; six sisters Mrs A Z. Meredith, Mrs R. H. Jackson, Mrs G. W. Simmons, Mrs Zera Adams, Misses Viola and Agnes Newsome, all of Phenix City. Funeral services will be at the residence Wednesday at 10:30 o'clock. Rev C. W. Smith of the United Congregational Church Phenix City will officiate. She was buried at the Newsome Cemetery, Phenix City, AL

She married Robert Winfield Durden November 20, 1920 in Phenix City, Russell Co., AL. Robert was born October 24, 1898 in De Funiak Springs, FL. Robert was the son of Henry Baker Durden. Robert died October 7, 1987 in Quitman, LA. Obit of Robert W. Durden, published on October 9, 1987 Former Columbus resident Robert W. Durden, 88, of Quitman, LA died there Thursday at Pine Hill Nursing Home. The funeral will be 10 am Saturday at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Phenix City, with Burial in Newsome Cemetery. Mr Durden was born October 24, 1899 in DeFuniak Springs, Fla, son of Mr and Mrs Henry Baker Durden. He lived in the Columbus and Phenix City area most of his life and retired from the Muscogee Mills, now Fieldcrest Mills. He was the widower of Jossie Durden. Surviors include a son, Charles Durden of Weatherford, Texas; and daughter Willie Womack of Quitman, GA; a brother, Gary Durden, Valparaiso, Fla; four granchidren and seven great-great grandchildren.

19619 ii. Joseph Henry Durden was born April 19, 1925. Joseph died March 19, 1945 in South Pacific. Services for Joseph Henry Durden were held at 10 am Saturday March 18 at the Newsome Family Cemetery in Phenix City. Rev Laborn Matthews officating. Henry was lost during Word War II on the USS Franklin. He was not married at the time of his death.
