Obit: Charles Milton Durden October 11, 1927- December 20, 2005 COLUMBUS, GA Ð Charles Milton Durden, 78, of Columbus died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Hamilton House Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday December 23, 2005, at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Howle officiating. Burial will be at Newsome Cemetery in Phenix City. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus. Born in Phenix City, Charles was the son of Robert Winfield Durden and Josie Newsome Durden. A veteran of the U. S. Navy during World War II, Charles retired in 1983 after a long career with the U. S. Postal Service. He also owned Durden Upholstery in Columbus. He was a member of Ladonia Baptist Church in Phenix City, and former member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church in Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Grace L. Durden! of Phenix City; a daughter, Debra Clair Durden Wyrick and husband Richard of Phenix City; a sister, Willie Clair Womack of Quitman, LA; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Dawn Buch of Ft. Worth, TX and Joseph Chandler Jones of Ft. Bragg, NC; one great granddaughter, Catherine Isabelle Jones; one niece, Merline Womack Brook of Quitman, LA; and one nephew, Buddy Womack of Hodge. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles Joseph Durden, and a brother, Henry Joseph Durden. The family requests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association National Office 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

Obit of Charles Jospeh Durden: Charles Joseph Durden, 52, of Smiths, Al, died Wednesday June 20, 2001 at his home. A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Friday, June 22, 2001 at Newsome Cemetery in Phenix City, AL, with Rev Jeff Parmer officiating, according to McMullin Funeral Home, 3874 Geneian Blvd, Columbus. Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Mr Durden wa born March 1, 1949 in Columbus, Ga, son of Grane Laverne Chalkley Durden and Charles Milton Durden. He was a Security Guard with Phenix Security and seved in the US Navy and was Baptist by faith. Surviors other than his parents, include a loving sister, Debra Wyrick and brother in law Richard of Phenix City; a nephew, Joseph Jones, Ft Sill, OK and a niece, Jennifer Buch of Arlington, TX. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
