Obit: Joseph Harry Newsome, 69, of Phenix City, died Wednesday, Jan. 19 at his home. Graveside funeral services will be held 12 Noon today at Lakeview Memory Gardens, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Phenix City Chapel. The family will receive friends today from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Newsome was born Dec. 5, 1935 in Phenix City, son of the late Harry and Erin Alyce Lloyd Newsome. He was a lifelong area resident and Baptist by faith. Survivors include one sister, Vivian Deason of Smiths; one brother, Hershel Robin Newsome of Phenix City; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
