Fred died May 25, 2003 in Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA. OBIT: Phenix City resident Fred Larmar Wynn Sr. 76 years of age died on Sunday, May 25, 2003 at the Columbus Hospice, Columbus, Georgia.
Mr, Wynn was an U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Phillipines during World War II. He worked for 36 years at his Civil Service job before he retired and he was also the owner of Wynn Builders, in Phenix City, Alabama.
He was a member of Golden Acres Methodist Church and served two terms as president of the Phenix City Shrine Club, he was a member of the American Legion, 32nd degree Mason, and former member of the Phenix City Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Wynn was affectionately regarded as a "community daddy" to the neighborhood children and friends.
Mr. Wynn was the son of John Thomas Wynn and Stella Newsome Wynn, he was born in Crawford, Russell County, Alabama, on August 4, 1926.
Mr. Wynn is preceded in death by two brothers, John Thomas Wynn Jr. and Charles Lester Wynn and a sister Doris Allene Wynn Elkins Lewis.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Geraldine Smith Wynn; Two sons Fred Larmar Wynn Jr. and Charles Lemuel Wynn and one daughter Genene Wynn Phillips all of Phenix City, Alabama. Sisters, Edna Ruth Wynn English, Sadie Frances Wynn Pearrow, Lilian PaulineWynn Graf and Abby Mae Wynn Morris; and a brother Paul Milford Wynn; Grandchildren Stacy Wynn Johnson, Brandi Smith, Lance Lee, Sommer Wynn Singletary and Megan Phillips, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held on May 28, 2003 at Vance Memorial Chapel. The Reverends Steven Stroud and Sammy Turner officiated. Serving As pallbearers were Gavin Graf, Tommy Graf. Johnny Elkins, Charlie Cole, Steve Delconardo, Robert Jackson and Dennis Morris. Honorary pallbearers included his nephews, great-nephews and the Phenix City Shrine Club.
He married Geraldine Smith December 2, 1950 in Phenix City, Russell Co., AL. Geraldine was born December 1, 1931 in Dothan, Houston Co., AL. Geraldine was the daughter of George Lee. Smith and Eloise Gibson. Geraldine died July 3, 2020 in Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA.
