He married Jennetta Shugart November 8, 1846 in Surry Co., NC. Bondsman: Edward J Reece

Jennetta was born January 1827 in Surry Co., NC. Jennetta was the daughter of Russell Shugart and Silva Williams. Jennetta died abt 1904 in IA. The 1950 census shows age as 25and wife's as 23 whereas the 1970 census shows age as 43, with wife 40.

Jesse A. Allgood and Jennetta Shugart had the following child:

 1201 i. Henry Clingman⁸ Allgood was born December 1848.
