He married twice. He married Lydia Williams March 27, 1937 in Washington, DC. Lydia was born Septembe 3, 1912 in Forsyth Co., NC. Lydia died July 2, 1974 in Falls Church, Fairfax Co., VA. Lydia is buried at Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Yadkin Co.,NC

Milo finished his education at the Yadkinville High School and Guilford College. His first employer was R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. They sent him to the Washington, DC, territory as a tobacco salesman in 1937. This provided him with the kind of challenge that he wanted. In the words of one of his fellow employees, Milo was one of the most ambitious men that ever worked for the company." When he set himself to a task, he gave it all that he had both mentally and physically. He resigned from Reynolds to start his own business as a real estate broker in Falls Church, Virginia, and was very successful.
