Bryon died March 15, 2011 in Athens, Henderson Co., TX. OBIT: Services for Byron Denman, minister, 64, Athens, are scheduled for 3 p.m., Thursday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with Kerry Clark and Jay Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Post Oak Cemetery.
Mr. Denman died March 15, 2011 in Athens.
He was born April 9, 1946 in Jacksboro to the late O. T. and Geneva Denman. Following graduation from high school in Hope, Ark., Byron attended Southern State College in Magnolia, and Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, before earning a Bachelor of Science degree at University of Science and Art at Chickasha, Okla. Byron served as minister for the Church of Christ 33 years in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas. In 1997, he received his nursing home administration certification, and served as administrator for nursing homes in Lindale, Tyler, Athens and Greenville.
He formerly was a grief counselor for Cedar Lake Hospice, and youth counselor for Sundown Ranch.
Survivors include wife Judy Wooley Denman, Athens; son Matthew Daniel Denman and wife Helen, Piedmont, Okla., daughters Angela Noelle Guice and husband Justin, Melanie Dawn Denman, all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sisters Pamela Anderson, Malakoff, Debbie Wafford and husband Eddie, Athens; grandson Sebastian Lewis Denman.
Pallbearers will be Jay Stephens, Dan Gannon, Bruce Ross, Gary Smith, Eddie Wafford and Cornell Miles.
Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Hatcher, John Fulstone, Jack Busby.
He married twice.
