OBIT: Services for Shelby "Fireball" Ratcliff of Wesson are 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Red Star Ward with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from noon until service time.
Mr. Ratcliff, 61, died Sept. 5, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Lincoln County on Feb. 10, 1940, to William Carlos Ratcliff and Mary Lou Lea Ratcliff.
He was a former tool pusher for H and P Drilling Company. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Red Star Ward.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors are his wife, Fay Griffin Ratcliff of Wesson; his son, Adam Ratcliff of Mobile; his daughters, Tracy Smith of Wesson and Paula Schifano of Brookhaven; his sisters, Margie Gale Falvey, Mary Juanita Coon, and Betty Jean Lofton, all of Wesson, Iva Pearl Golman and Linda Faye Weathersby, both of Brookhaven, and Ida Lee Britt of Port Arthur, Texas; his grandchildren, Jason Smith, Tiffany Noble, Derek Smith, Timmy Schifano, and Trey Smith; and his great-grandchildren, Tyler Noble and Blake Smith.
He married twice. He married Margaret Fay Griffin. He married Margaret Fay Griffin May 13, 1960 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co, MS. Margaret was born October 28, 1941 in Hampton, Washington Co., MS. Margaret was the daughter of Willie Ray Griffin and Hilder May Evans. Margaret died June 2, 2011 in Wesson, Copiah Co, MS. OBIT: Funeral services for Margaret Fay Ratcliff, of Wesson, are 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on Natchez Drive with burial in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - Red Star Ward Cemetery.
Visitation is Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ratcliff, 69, died June 2, 2011, at her residence. She was born in New Hampton on Oct. 28, 1941.
She was a housewife who had various occupations. She had many special interests, including genealogy, family history, writing and sewing. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - Red Star Ward.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Hilder Mae Griffin; her husband, Richard Shelby Ratcliff; and her son, Richard Adam Ratcliff.
Survivors are her father, Willie Ray Griffin, of Vider, Texas; her daughters, Tracy Davis and husband, Timothy, and Paula Ratcliff, all of Brookhaven; her brother, Michael Griffin and wife, Judy, of Brookhaven; her sisters, Patsy Overstreet and husband, Bill, of Kountz, Texas, Jane Holston, of Brookhaven, Elaine Allen and husband, Donnie, of Oxford, and Malinda Pierce, of Baton Rouge, La.; her grandchildren, Jason Smith, Tiffany Smith, Trey Smith, Derek Smith and Timmy Schifano; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Richard Shelby Ratcliff and Margaret Fay Griffin had the following children:
