Myrtis died June 12, 2006 in Hammond, Tangipahoa Parish, LA. OBIT: Services for Myrtis Case Smith, of Hammond, La., were 11 a.m. today, June 15, at New Salem Church of Christ in Brookhaven with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of local arrangements. Mrs. Smith, 98, died June 12, 2006, at North Oaks Medical Center. She was born in Brookhaven on Jan. 23, 1908, to Marshall Case and Lizzie Watts Case. She was a cashier for 25 years at Woody's Grocery and at Rosenblooms for 20 years. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ben F. Smith; and her son, Proby Smith. Survivors are her grandsons, David, Donald and Mark Smith; her brother, Hoyt Case; her great-grandsons, Lt. Bradley Smith U.S.N., Ben Smith and Chris Blackwell; her granddaughters, Bridget Blackwell and Lesley Smith; and her great-granddaughters, Lydia and Margaret Smith.

She married Benjamin Franklin Smith. Benjamin was born March 5, 1903. Benjamin was the son of Preston (Press) Smith and Martha Jane Lofton. Benjamin died March 11, 1956 in LA. Benjamin was buried in New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery, Lincoln Co., MS.

Myrtis Case and Benjamin Franklin Smith had the following child:
