Rufus died November 9, 1985 in Lasalle Parish, LA. OBIT: Rufus P. Smith, 67, of Rhinehart, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 1985 at the LaSalle General Hospital. He was a retired oil field worker. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Revs. Preston Holder and Bill Tyson, officiating. Burial followed a[t] the Pine Grove Cemetery of Rhinehart with arrangements by Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Isabel G. Smith of Rhinehart; three daughters, Mrs. Alice Ann Herman of Devall, Wash., Mrs. Linda Bean of Baton Rouge and Mrs. Wanda Leonard of Beaumont, Texas; a son, Warren Smith of Baton Rouge; a brother, Milton Smith of Jena; five sisters, Mrs. Annie Smith of Winnsboro, Mrs. Mildred Coon of Jena, Mrs. Florence Clark of Vidalia, Mrs. Eunice Masshorn and Mrs. Lois Curry, both of Winnsboro; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ted Paul, Terry Lynn, Lyndall Kitterlin, Billy Doughty, Melton Wheat and O.B. Bradford.
He married Isabel Gerrude Golden. Isabel was born July 4, 1919 in Hodge, Jackson Parish, LA. Isabel was the daughter of Fred Golden and Annie (___). Isabel died February 1, 2007 in Jena, LaSalle Parish, LA. OBIT: Mrs. Isabel G. Smith of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Jena, Louisiana, died Thursday, February 1, 2007. A loving mother, wife and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Smith and son, Wayne Smith. A devoted church worker and member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible Study at nursing homes and to shut-ins. She was a retired cafeteria worker for the LaSalle Parish School System. She is survived by her children, Ann Herman and husband Dick of Blanchard, Idaho, Linda Bean and husband Jess of Baton Rouge, Wanda Leonard and husband John of Beaumont, Texas and Warren Smith of Atlanta, Georgia. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Pine Grove Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2007 with Revs. Scotty McDowell and Preston Holder officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Jena.

OBIT: Alice Ann Herman, age 70 of Blanchard, Idaho passed away December 19, 2009 at her home. She was born February 6, 1939 in Jena, Louisiana. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday December 24, 2009 at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel.
