He married Elizabeth (Betty) Allen 1884 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Elizabeth was born January 26, 1864 in MS. Elizabeth was the daughter of Hiram Case Allen and Elizabeth Jane (Betsy) Case. Elizabeth died November 20, 1930.
James Melton Allgood and Elizabeth (Betty) Allen had the following children:

4347 v. Ethel Mae Allgood was born March 20, 1895.
4348 vi. Mary Allgood was born January 21, 1898.
4349 vii. Lulu Allgood was born April 24, 1902.
4350 viii. Katie Allgood was born August 15, 1904.
