Leroy died July 18, 2003 in Hazlehurst, Copiah Co., MS. OBIT: LeRoy Waldon, Jr., died Friday, July 18, 2003, while at home and surrounded by his family, Pastor, Brother Larry Hart and best friend. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at Stringer Funeral Home in Hazlehurst. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Westside Baptist Church with burial in Hazlehurst Cemetery. Mr. Waldon was born and raised in Lincoln county and graduated from Loyd Star High School. He was married to his life-long companion on April 6, 1957, and began his tour of duty for his country. Upon his leaving the service, he began his life-long career in the oil field for ODECO in 1959, where toward the end of his career, he was called the "NIGHTSTALKER" by his night crew and fellow co-workers. Upon retiring in 1992, he enjoyed his hobbies of hunting, fishing, hanging out at "The Barn" with his friends, but most of all, taking long rides in his old blue truck out in the country. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.__Survivors include: wife, Helen Waldon; two brothers, Charles and Paul Waldon and their families; two sisters, Johnnie and Nell and their families; grandchildren, Kathryn, Jeffrey, Brandi, Rayne, Brad, and Corey; son-in-law, Jeff McCardle; daughter-in-law, Jane Waldon; one daughter, Lacey McCardle; and one son, Lynn Waldon, who is proud to say he was not only his father, but also his best friend.
