Robert died February 28, 2014 in Athens, Clarke Co., GA. OBIT: Robert Sidney Ginn, Sr. 84, of Carnesville, passed away February 28, 2014, in Athens Regional Medical Center. Born July 14, 1929, in Carnesville, GA, he was the son of the late Buford D. and Gussie Edna Martin Ginn. He served in the US Army Military Police during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid fisherman, and raised cattle for many years. He rebuilt and restored automobiles and tractors. He was a member of the Carnesville Masonic Lodge 186. He had been a Georgia licensed funeral director for fifty years and had owned Ginn Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Joan Rogers Ginn; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Sid and Lynn Ginn, Carnesville, and David and Becky Ginn, Canon, GA; two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Beth Westbrook, Carnesville, and Susan G. and Dale Hodges, Boston, GA; his sister, Mary Ann Taylor, Toccoa, GA; six grandchildren, Erin Register, Katrina Calderwood, Britt Ginn, John Lee Ginn, Taylor Brown, and Natalie Hodges; and nine great-grandchildren, Kaliegh Ginn, Ivey Ginn, Claire Conner, J D Ginn, Georgia Ginn, Sarah Calderwood, Philip Calderwood, Gavin Calderwood, and Roper Brown. Services were 3pm Sunday afternoon, March 2, 2014, at the B. D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home with Rev. Grady Jordan, Rev. Britt Ginn, and Rev. Malcolm Herndon. Interment with Military Honors, will be in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
He married twice. He married Joan Rogers.
