John died October 12, 2009 in LaGrange, Troup Co., GA. OBIT: Herbert Abernathy 85 died at Hospice LaGrange. He was the son of the late Willie Abernathy, Sr. and Hattie Gilliam Abernathy. He was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church, Golden Joy Senior Club and Troup County Senior Center. He was the owner of Abernathy Wrecker Company for over 25 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by two brothers Franklin and William Abernathy and a sister Jeanette Delong. Survived by his wife Leola Abernathy. Children Deborah (Buck) Davis, Dale (Tim) Henderson, Danny (Joyce) Abernathy. and Grandchildren and great Grandchildren Brothers Henry and Eugene Abernathy; sister Mary Davis Services at Striffler Hamby with Revs. Anthony Hovey and Dan Wooton. Burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
